SFIR issue two types of completion certificates do you know the difference?

Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

Why we use RICS Surveyors

Here at SFIR Home Improvements we use and recommend RICS Surveyors and the reason for this is very simple, the information provided by a fully qualified, trained professional can be trusted upon, unlike the information provided by an unskilled, untrained salesperson.

We understand the importance of providing professional certification, this not only protects you and your property, but because of the qualification of the surveyors it means you can rely upon the information they provide.

Professional RICS Certification

Our professional RICS spray foam removal certification provides the correct documentation confirming that spray foam insulation has been properly and completely removed from your property. This certification is provided to homeowners after a visit from our preferred professional RICS registered surveyors, who will confirm the property has been treated correctly and the  spray foam removed in accordance with RICS and the PCA standards..

SFIR Professional Certification

We are not professional surveyors and nor do we claim to be. We would always recommend the RICS certification for obvious reasons. While our certification is not an official government endorsed certificate, our documentation is typically satisfactory for mortgage lenders, property buyers, and insurance companies who require proof that spray foam insulation has been removed due to the potential risks associated with this material, including fire hazards, structural damage, and health concerns.

Our certification process includes a thorough inspection by our experienced professional staff who are trained to verify the complete removal of spray foam and assess the condition of the property to ensure it meets our exacting standards.

The SFIR Checks

It may sound obvious, but so many companies neglect to inspect the loft space correctly. Here at SFIR we start by making sure the roof structure is in good order. After the spray foam has been removed we complete a  detailed assessment of the roof timbers for rot, fungal growth, or structural weakening caused by trapped moisture from spray foam insulation, we take moisture readings to ensure no damp or moisture is present. One of our loft assessors will evaluate the quality of the spray foam removal work undertaken in your loft, ensuring complete and proper removal without any residual material being left behind.

Once the spray foam has been removed  we undertake a thorough examination of the membrane or roofing felt for tears, degradation, or damage that may have occurred during the removal process.

After completing all of the timber checks, moisture checks and membrane checks, we then evaluate the ventilation within the loft to ensure your loft has the proper airflow and that ventilation has been restored after spray foam removal, preventing future moisture problems.

Once we have completed all of the necessary checks we then write a detailed report about the condition and findings of your loft space. The comprehensive written report will detail our findings, we will provide you with photographic evidence, and recommendations for remediation of any identified issues and if the roof passes our stringent investigation, then we will provide you with the certificate to confirm everything is okay and your loft has no issues or defects.
