Mineral Fibre Insulation

Mineral Fibre Insulation

mineral fibre loft insulation, #sfir, #mineralfibre, #mineralfibreloftinsulation

Did you know that 270mm of traditional mineral fibre insulation installed in your loft provides a much better thermal insulation than 100mm depth of spray foam. Not only that but with traditional mineral fibre loft insulation you will not have any trouble selling your home or getting equity release. The other thing no one tells you is when you have foam in between your rafters and no insulation on the floor, you actually need to heat the whole of the loft space before you stop heat loss.

Traditional Loft Insulation is Better & Cheaper Than Spray Foam?

It is a fact that traditional mineral fibre loft insulation laid at ceiling level, and at a depth of 270mm, the current UK government standard, offers a better standard of insulation than 100mm of spray foam installed between the rafters. This information is provided by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), in their spray foam update report published in March 2023.

It is a fact that traditional loft fibre insulation is considerably cheaper than the spray foam insulation many people have recently purchased for their loft space. The average cost of spray foam insulation is over £3,500 and as soon as you have spray foam insulation, you will not be able to sell your home to someone who needs a mortgage, you will not be able to get equity release, but with traditional loft insulation like mineral fibre or mineral wool you can still sell your house, you will be able to get equity release and it will keep the heat  in the living quarters of the property not the loft space.
