SFIR Home Improvements have the expertise to handle any project regarding Japanese knotweed. Our team have extensive experience, we have the certification that allows us to deal with the issue.
Whether you have purchased a property with Japanese knotweed or the invasive plant is growing through from a neighbouring property, we have the skills and knowledge to get the job done right, but please be aware this can be a long process to do the work right.

Invasive bamboo, particularly running varieties, causes significant property damage by spreading rapid-growth rhizomes that penetrate walls, patios, drains, and foundations.
It can devalue homes, create expensive repairs and can cause legal disputes due to encroachment on neighbouring land. Control requires specialised removal and / or strong root barriers.
If you have Japanese Knotweed or Bamboo running wild in your garden, then it almost certainly is not being contained. Japanese Knotweed needs to be removed and the area protected by a removal and monitoring programme specialist, SFIR Home Improvements have the skills, the knowledge and the certification to handle these jobs.
Wherever Bamboo is planted – if it can spread it will. This is mostly a problem for the running variety, however issues can occur with the clumping variety as well. You may think that installing a typical garden weed barrier would stop plants from spreading where you don’t want them to be. With invasive Bamboo, this won’t work. Only a professional root barrier product (such as the type used to control Japanese knotweed) will be successful, and it must be installed correctly by professionals for it to be effective.
When Japanese Knotweed or Bamboo is disturbed through gardening or construction activities the problem with both species is simple to understand, disturbing the plants causes and exacerbates spreading.
Japanese Knotweed and Bamboo are known pests, they are invasive, they spread rapidly and ferociously and triggering movement, even accidently can exacerbate and trigger the defence of the plants. Bamboo grows from an underground root system (similar to knotweed), and when this gets disturbed its defence system kicks in and it spreads out further. This means that even a small fragment of root that breaks away from the main root system (or with clumping Bamboo its ‘root ball’) will regenerate new plants.
The very worst thing you can do is to ignore the invasive species. The longer you leave it untreated the worse it will become. There are many invasive species and by this we mean they are not a "Native species" and these invasive species spread faster and more aggressively than you may imagine.
If you suspect you or your neighbour have Japanese Knotweed or Invasive Bamboo you may need to call us urgently to inspect and survey your property.
It is better to be safe than sorry and remember being forearmed is forewarned.
